2023: UK Events Calendar

By Jack Hudson , 22 May, 2023

Calling all SwimTrekkers!

Join us this summer in attendance and support of the United Kingdom's best-loved open water events. Swim with us as we continue to champion this unique sport we all love, working more closely than ever with our favourite communities and organisations across the British Isles.

From the meanders of the Dart 10K, to ruffled Henham Park Lake at Latitude Festival, we aim to be more involved than ever in your most memorable aquatic moments this year. At times, we’ll even keep you company out there in the churned bubbles, as well as offering support, prizes, equipment and unique experiences to all participants.

See you out there!

We're very excited to support the upcoming Arla Great North Swim in Windermere (England's largest natural lake - 10.5 miles long!) on Saturday 10 June. This past decade the event has grown from around 3,000 swimmers to 10,000.

We're back at Shepperton Lake for the second year running - the 24 Hour Relay is a truly fantastic event, raising money for the Level Water charity. Each swimmer is in the water for an hour on rotation for 24 hours in total!

JULY 2023

Family-friendly Festivals & Iconic UK Open Water Events

Bantham Swoosh

Level Water: Bantham Swoosh

8 July

We're delighted to say that we'll be in attendance for the 'Biggest Open Water Swimming event in the UK'. The Bantham Swoosh is a world class 6km swim in a sand-bottomed estuary in Devon. The course culminates in a “swoosh” as the ebbing tide funnels through a narrow section of river, speeding you along at up to four times your usual swimming speed!

Outdoor Swimmer: Henley Swim Festival

9 July

We will also be back for the Outdoor Swimmer: Henley Swim Festival in Henley-on-Thames. Open water swimming events have been held on the Thames since the 1890s, so this is truly a historic event in a wonderful, leafy setting, outside of London.

Western Lakes

19-21 July

Another fantastic trip we're running in The Lakes this year! Swim the Western Lakes among the rolling green fells of the Cumbrian Lake District. Stay close to stunning Crummock Water and Buttermere and discover the area's lesser-known meres, waterfalls and rivers.

Latitude

Latitude Festival

20-23 July

Another year, another excuse for SwimTrek to wake festival-goers up in style - that's right, we're back for more freshwater swims at the UK's most family-friendly event: Latitude Festival!

Weekend ticket holders can choose from a selection of morning, evening, or 1-2-1 coaching slots this year. Improve your swim technique, soak in the festival atmosphere from Henham Park Lake and invigorate yourself with a healthy dose of open water, before you head to the main stages!

Our final departure to the English Lakes & Tarns will set off in sunlit (we hope) September. Get back to nature with a short escape swimming holiday in the UK’s infinitely picturesque Lake District.

YogaSwim Lake District

11-13 September

For our final YogaSwim experience of 2023, we'll be hiking, swimming and enjoying yoga among the 700 square miles of beautiful natural scenery that make up this region.

Western Lakes

14-16 September

Finally, for our trips to the Lake District in 2023, we're closing the season with our last departure to the lesser-swum Western Lakes - a world away from the bustle of the popular Northern and Southern Lakes!

Level Water: Hurly Burly

16 September

We'll be back in North Wales to swim with you and provide support for this one! We wouldn't miss Level Water's Level Water: Hurly Burly for the world. Participants will leap into a sandy estuary and ride a fast tide for the speediest 10k in the land – there are run-swim and run options too!

Dart10k

Level Water: Dart 10K

2-3 September

Swim Start: 9am Start Location: Totnes, Devon Finish Location: Greenway, National Trust

Get ready for this one! We're excited to join swimmers for the Level Water: Dart 10K - the first (and arguably the finest) marathon-distance swim in the UK. The event captures the essence and ethos of the open water community, following the classic route down the River Dart, from Totnes. Keep an eye out for local landmarks along the way, like the Cormorant Tree, the white rock, Sharpham boathouse and Bow Creek. 10km later, you’ll be greeted by cheers, hugs and hot chocolate as you settle into a deckchair for a well earned rest!
