Latitude Festival is always a special date in the SwimTrek calendar - laid out in the grounds of Henham Park, the festival has run for over 15 years and always offers incredible acts in music, comedy, poetry, theatre and literature. And this year, we'll be back at Henham Lake to take you on adventure swims and freshen you up each morning for the daily festivities...
In the aftermath of Covid Lockdowns, the long-awaited return to festivals is finally going ahead and Latitude has lined up an ever-increasing list of unleashed music and arts performers. This year, the layout has changed a little and programming is split slightly differently between venues. Also, campervan ticket holders can arrive on Wednesday from 2pm, for an additional afternoon in the campervan field and to allow for more of a leisurely set-up pace.
What's new this year?
The festival kicks off on Thursday 22 July! The main campsites will also be open earlier than usual and campers can show up from 8am on Thursday, ready to stock up at the Village, with its food traders and Co-Op. The Listening Post was a popular arena for writers, podcasters, speakers and poets in 2019. So, this area has been supersized for 2021 and now sprawls over the former Speakeasy. Then, of course, music will be pouring out from all sides, with cult musicians and future stars playing at the Sunrise Arena. Then Strictly meets Suffolk at the Latitude Ballroom, for anyone who's ready to dance through the decades in instructor-led classes. They also have film screenings and a programme of talks from visual artists.
Looking to unwind? Check out the Mind, Body and Zen area - where talks, meditation, workshops and spa treatments are all on offer. It's a multi-sensory celebration of wellness and mental health. Another new addition this summer is the forest Workshop - you can pick up new skills under the tutorship of experienced artisans, offering everything from pottery tips to activist cartoon classes.
We’re back for some adventure swims!
Finally, the reason we've got this date firmly underlined on our wall, Reggie, Ben and Jack from SwimTrek HQ will all be down to lead and support adventure swims each morning around Henham Park Lake! So, come join us and freshen up in style for the UK's Best Family Festival. Swim the 2km course with a full safety escort and enjoy the supervision of our expert guides. While you also meet and swap stories with fellow open water swimmers from all over the UK.
Weekend ticket holders will be able to book our morning adventure swims, before the main acts get started.
All abilities are welcome, whether you're looking for a longer distance challenge around the lake, or simply seeking some technique feedback and support - this event is perfect for those who simply enjoy freshwater swimming too! However, a wetsuit is recommended for those not used to lake swimming in less than 17°C.
