Where We Stay
For our brand new Ithaca Odyssey 2024 trip we’ll venture out to the ancient homeland of Odysseus in the Ionian Sea. Ithaca is an island shrouded in mysticism and rich in history and myth – a Greek jewel in calm Ionian waters, which lies just off Kefalonia’s northeastern coast.
We’ll stay in the laidback harbour town of Vathy, with colourful seafront buildings and a friendly bustle. We are pleased to work with two hotels for our 2024 Ithaca trip, the hotel you stay in will depend on the week you choose.
Both hotels are located in Vathy, Ithaca and offer twin and double rooms. All rooms are en suite with full air conditioning, TV and WIFI. There are a limited number of single supplement rooms, which can be reserved during the booking process, subject to availability.
Both hotels are close to a suitable dock for embarking and disembarking at the beginning and end of the swim day.
The Mentor Hotel was the first organised hotel on the island (built in 1969) and still sits right at the heart of the harbour – mere minutes from the main square.
There are a number of local restaurants nearby and you can enjoy easy access to coastal walks and plenty of exploration to other parts of the Ionian as well.
This hotel accommodates up to 70 people, with a restaurant and modern facilities. There are 4 suites, 30 double-bed and 2 single rooms, equipped with bathroom, air conditioning, TV, mini bar, safe box, direct dial telephone and Wi-Fi connection. You will also find yourself within a few metres from the sea, spoilt for seafront views of boats in the port of Vathi!
The Captain Yiannis Hotel is tucked further round the bay, offering spectacular views of Vathy itself. Guests can venture into Vathy each evening or explore further north to the yacht marina. You’re also within walking distance of Loutsa Beach and with its own pool, it is the perfect location to relax by the water.
The picturesque setting allows you to peer back over the bay toward the town’s centre and up the mountains to the village of Perahori. This is a wonderful hotel for your Ithacan holiday – it even has its own pond with turtles!
Our allocation includes all hotel rooms. Captain Yiannis has a number of suites as well, which are subject to additional charge and availability.
