about our trips
Insurance
It is a condition of joining any of our Non UK trips that you must have Comprehensive Travel Insurance which must cover you against medical and personal accident risks (to include repatriation costs, air ambulance and helicopter rescue services).

Full details on Insurance Providers can be found at www.swimtrek.com/insurance

Pre-Tour Training
To swim in open water is a wonderful experience. All we ask is that you are able to keep up a sustained swimming pace for the average daily tour distance (see each trip's tour summary) prior to the start of your tour. To help you achieve this distance as well as to maximise your enjoyment  from the tour then check out the pre-tour training plan. The plan will give you weekly distances to attain in the pool.

Group Size & Composition
Our groups are small. We have a maximum of 16 places on each tour. We have a mixed clientele, from the keen swimmer through to people who want to try something completely different. Freestylers, Breaststrokers, Backstrokers and even Butterfliers are all welcome. You are welcome to come along as a single person or a group as long as swimmers are at least 16 years old. Our tours attract people from many walks of life and you will go home having made new friends from a unique adventure.

Support
All trips are supported by the following:
  •  Qualified swimming guides.
  • Local pilot, familiar with the area.
  • Large motorised support vessel with all necessary equipment on board. On lakes and rivers where motorised boats are not permitted, we use canoe support.
  • Support inflatables.

Coaching
As well as great swimming, we feel it's also important that during the tour you also improve as a swimmer. Therefore throughout the trip, your guides will work with you on improving your swimming echnique. Combining up-to-date coaching methods along with video analysis work, you will come away with a better understanding of how to maintain a more efficient and improved stroke.

Accommodation
In order to maximise the enjoyment of the tour, all our accommodation is of a good standard, based on twin-share and when available en-suite facilities. We use wherever possible locally owned small hotels.

When camping (Scottish Inner Hebrides, Norfolk Broads, Western Lakes & Thames) we provide tents and all the necessary communal camping and cooking equipment.
