About Our Trips

If you’re looking for something a bit different from the usual humdrum holiday, relish a challenge, like meeting new people, and want to explore some of the most beautiful scenery in the world, then we have most definitely got a trip for you?

It’s Not A Race, We Go At Your Pace

We’ve been doing this long enough now to know that not everyone is of an equal standard in water ,  so we tailor the trips to make sure everyone goes at the pace they’re comfortable with, and has a great experience no matter what their ability – after all we want it to be an unforgettable tour, not a demanding chore!

Stroke For Stroke

To make sure everyone has the time of their lives we try as much as possible to put together groups with similar swimming abilities. So you really get the most out of your SwimTrek experience we recommend being able to swim non-stop for more than 1.2 miles (2 km) in a pool. Check out our pre-tour training plan to really get up to speed.

The Great Escape (1 week tours)

We’ve spent years searching the globe for the best spots for you to enjoy, and it has been tough but someone had to do it! Now all that ”hard work” has paid off so you can see the world the way it should be seen with these week long swim tours set in some of the most beautiful locations around.

From Baja Mexico to the Montenegrin Riviera, and many destinations in between, these flagship holidays are the ultimate adventure for swimmers of all abilities, who just want that experience (or two) of a lifetime.

The Short Escape

Want to experience some scenic splendour but can’t commit to a long escape? Or want to test the waters literally? Then try one of our short escapes – with destinations from  the stunning Slovenian Alps to Portugese Atlantic to name just a few you’ll be signing up for the next trip before you’ve dried off!

The Best Of Both Worlds

We think of these swims as shorter but still perfectly formed! If you want more balance between land and water, then Croatia and Turkey, Short Swims will be right up your alley… stream?! You still get to experience the beautiful scenery of some amazing destinations from the sea, but you don’t swim as far as our regular trips. There’s also plenty of time to explore the shore by foot, chill out at the beach, or do a spot of retail therapy if that’s your thing!

Learn From The ‘A’ Team

At SwimTrek swimming is what we’re all about, so it’s only natural that we want everyone to share in it, and with all our experience it makes sense for us to impart our Zen-like open water swimming knowledge onto others.

So, whether you’re a novice wanting to gain skills and improve technique, or a specialist long distance swimmer wanting some additional training and open water efficiency, we are here to help.

The Fast Escape

If you’ve got the need for speed and consider yourself a bit of a torpedocheck out our Swift options. Designed with the serious swimmer in mind, these trips really give you room to accelerate and push your limits alongside swimmers in the same boat as you!

To sign-up to our Swift tours you should be able to swim 1 mile in 35 minutes (1 km in 25 minutes) or less.

The Scenic Route

If you want to enjoy the idyllic surrounds at a more leisurely pace , then these tours are designed for you. You still get to enjoy the incredible destinations, and have the experience of a lifetime, just in a more relaxing manner – which some would say is what holidays are all about!

We suggest that to fully enjoy these trips you should be swimming 1 mile in 50 minutes (1km in 31 minutes) or slower.

These are just brief introductions to our exciting trips and experiences, but if you want to know more, you can talk to any of our head office team by contacting them here.

What You Need To Know

SwimTrek tours are an exciting, exhilarating, experience of a lifetime, but to make sure it’s enjoyable for all, and memorable for all the right reasons, there are some things we need to cover.

Match Fitness

If you’re interested in our tours presumably you’re beyond the water-wings stage, but to really enjoy the experience you should be able to swim the average daily tour distance prior to coming on the trip, even if it’s in the pool .

Every tour has a daily distance, and we’ve got a helpful pre-tour training plan to get you up to speed for the adventure of a lifetime.

Size Does Matter

At SwimTrek we know that size does matter, so we make sure our groups are small enough for everyone to feel safe and special, but large enough for there to be a good mix of people from all walks of life, whether you’re going solo, as a pair or in a group. We have a set maximum of clients on every trip. Just check out the tour page for the maximum group size for that particular trip.

All Strokes Welcome

While front crawl is the most widely used stroke on the trips, all strokes are welcome -, even butterfliers!

Learn On The Job

Whatever your swimming prowess there’s always room for improvement, so our guides will work on your technique during the tours, combining up-to-date coaching methods along with video analysis work – so at the end you’ll be virtually swimming with the fishes!

We Are Very Accommodating

After enjoying the beautiful vistas, tranquil waters and nature at its best, we know from experience that a bit of R&R at the end of the day is key to a great holiday – so we’ve made sure the places we stay are comfortable and of good quality. The locations where we stay offer so much than just somewhere to sleep, they are undoubtedly an essential part of the tour.

Some of our tours involve camping (Western Lakes & Thames), but never fear, we’ll sort the tents and the cooking equipment, you just have to stoke the fire, and sing a song or two!

Safety & Support

Safety and support are paramount to us at SwimTrek, so we guarantee to have the following on every tour to make sure all our trips go according to plan:

·         Qualified swimming guides

·         A local pilot who is familiar with the area

·         A large motorised support vessel with all necessary equipment on board, except on lakes and rivers where motorised boats are not permitted, we use canoe support

·         Support inflatables

The Serious Stuff

It is a condition of joining any of our Non-UK trips that you must have Comprehensive Travel Insurance which must cover you against medical and personal accident risks (to include repatriation costs, air ambulance, and helicopter rescue services). Full details on Insurance Providers can be found here.

Our Guides

Without our guides we wouldn’t exist, and without our guides we wouldn’t be the award winning swimming tour operator that we are today, and without our guides our customers wouldn’t come back for more tours every year – but they do, and we’ve got our guides to thank for that.

Obviously, the views, locations, and challenge in itself are a plus, but our SwimTrek guides really make it more than just a holiday – they make it an experience of a lifetime.

They are some of the most experienced open water swimmers around the world, and have done everything from solo English Channel crossings, Lake Zurich, Cook Strait, North Channel and Rottnest Island – and their passion for open water swimming is contagious, so watch out, as you may be unexpectedly signing up for that long distance swim you only dreamed about!

All our guides are beach lifeguard, powerboat and fist aid qualified as well as , Most trips also have a swimming coachtoo..

For all our amazing SwimTrek tours to happen, and to make sure you have the time of your life, some of us need to be stuck behind a desk… occasionally. So, where the guides get all the glory, think of the 9 head office staff based in Brighton, UK  as the wind beneath their tanned and toned wings!
