Soak up the bohemian seaside vibe of one of the UK’s liveliest cities
Our Open Water Development coaching camp is the perfect way for you to take your open water swimming to the next level. Increase your confidence and improve your swim technique, develop your open water skills and build endurance through a combination of pool and sea swims supported by our experienced and qualified swim coaches. Whatever your swimming goals, our coaches will work with you, both in the sea and in SwimTrek’s own High-Performance Swim Centre at Sea Lanes, located just east of Brighton’s iconic Palace Pier, directly on Brighton beach and only metres from the water’s edge.
We are based on Brighton’s seafront, which is one of the original homes of open water swimming in England. In fact, it’s home to England’s oldest sea swimming club and has a vibrant swimming scene. You will also have exclusive access to an endless pool.
Your pool sessions include in-depth video analysis which allow you to develop your technique and improve your stroke when you get back in the open water. Over the course of the camp you will also have escorted sea swims. These swims allow you to put into practice everything that you have learnt in the pool out in the open water environment.
To make sure you fully benefit from the camp and your progression within open water swimming, our qualified swim coaches run one-to-one and group sessions. Combining these sessions with a healthy dose of encouragement, patience and, most importantly, fun, your time with us is sure to be an incredible stage in your open water swimming journey.
Who is this camp for?
This coaching camp is designed to suit swimmers who are confident in the pool and have some open water experience, but would like to take their open water swimming to the next level. It is perfect for those who are looking to improve their open water skills and endurance levels under the watchful eye of experienced swim coaches.
Swimmers should have a basic understanding of open water swimming and be capable of completing a swim of 2 km in the pool or open water, prior to the start of the trip. The average daily swim distance is around 3 km (split over a minimum of two swims).
If you are completely new to the open water or feel that you need some further assistance with making the transition from the pool to the sea, you may like to consider our Introduction to Open Water - Brighton coaching camp which also runs out of Sea Lanes, Brighton.
We have given this trip a ‘Moderate’ grading. Most swimmers comfortable in the open water will be able to take part and enjoy one of these trips. Water conditions in the UK can be more demanding than in our other destinations but this is ideal preparation if you intend to swim open water in temperate waters like these.
