Itinerary and Map

Day 1

Saturday: We start the tour by meeting up in the evening for supper at the hotel. It’s a good time to meet the group, share stories of past swim glories and tours as well as meeting your guides.

Day 2

Sunday: An early start with a pre-swim safety briefing followed by a short acclimatisation swim allowing the guides to view your stroke and group you according to pace. Once completed its back to the hotel for a shower, breakfast and the full safety briefing prior to your first escorted coastal swim starting at the hotel swimming west to Punte Tegge. After lunch your guides will film you above and below the water prior to a return swim back to the hotel, where you’ll meet the guides who’ll play back the film offering analysis and advice on your stroke.

Day 3

Monday: After a short boat ride to Isola S. Stefano sees you start the swim on the west coast by la Fiumata round the Roma Island with its glorious statue dedicated to all sea farers, finishing off in one of its beautiful bays facing Valtur bay. The second swim after lunch starts from the bay where you head south past Punta San Giorgio along the coast finishing in Cala di Vela Marina. From here you walk back to la Fiumata and then back by boat to the hotel.

Day 4

Tuesday: A short boat journey takes you west for your first crossing; La Maddalena to Isola Spargi. It’s a great swim and after lunch the second swim is either around the smaller neighbouring island of Spargiotto or a coastal swim down the north west coast of Spargi finishing at Cala Piscioni.

Day 5

Wednesday: Its time to look east to Isola Caprera and a stunning morning coastal swim from Spiaggia Tahiti to Cala Brigantina. A great remote location with crystal clear water, it sets the day for a continued post lunch swim from Brigantina to Cala Portese.

Day 6

Thursday: We start with a morning swim from Spargi to Budelli. It’s a great adventure and the afternoon swim is the north west three-island archipelago of Razzoli, S.Maria and Budelli. By starting the swim at the lower tip of Razzoli, you’ll swim to S.Maria, across to Budelli and back to Razzoli taking in all three islands. Alternatively, the afternoon maybe spent in the secluded bay of Cala Lunga with an optional walk to Faro Razzoli to witness the stunning views of a distant Sardinia.

Day 7

Friday: A leisurely morning group swim in the local bay before breakfast completes the week’s activities and the tour.

Caveat 2010

For obvious safety reasons we rely on decent weather conditions when carrying out any crossings. As a consequence, open water swimming does require an inherent degree of on-trip flexibility, so required changes in the planned itinerary will not be uncommon and will undoubtedly add to the uniqueness of each tour

Swimming Caveat 2010

Swimming in the sea is a fantastic experience, but you need to be aware of certain marine life such as jellyfish, sea urchins and coral. These could be present during a swim, so in all cases we will work on minimising their occurrence. In the event you are stung by jellyfish, in most cases you can normally carry on swimming. However, if you do have a problem, we can assess/treat the affected area immediately on the escort boat. If this area continues to cause discomfort and/or becomes infected during or after the tour, you should seek medical attention immediately explaining the nature of the cause. Please ensure you contact us prior to booking if you suffer from Anaphylaxis.
