Croatian Dalmatian Coast
Itinerary and Map
Day 1
We meet in the late afternoon on Prvić where you have a chance to relax before heading off for a short acclimatisation swim nearby. Later in the evening we meet for drinks and a pre-trip briefing in which we discuss in detail the week’s plans. Don't worry if you arrive late! There will be an oppurtunity to do all this in the morning as well.
Day 2
We walk from the hotel in the south of Prvić to the island’s main beach at Sepurine. From here, we strike out to Tijat for our first crossing of the week. On arrival we make our way up to the highest point on the island, where the view from the top is fantastic. The afternoon is given over to stroke improvement, where we will video and analyse your stroke in the confines of the stunning blue lagoon in Tijat’s southern corner.
Day 3
Today, we start to ratchet up the pace with 2 crossings on the programme Tijat to Zmajan and Zmajan to Kaprije. Walking is limited on these islands as there are no obvious paths. These two crossings are often the most popular of the week.
Day 4
Some time off from “Island Hopping” and it’s a chance to take the boat inland up the mighty Krka River, one of the biggest in Croatia. We have the opportunity to let the river take the strain as we swim down it to Lake Jezero. After lunch you will have the opportunity to hike up to the iconic Krka waterfalls, where you can even take a dip beneath them!
Day 5
Back to the Island hopping as we complete 2 more crossings. The morning is taken up with the crossing from Kapije to the uninhabited island of Kakan. Following lunch and another coaching session for those who want it, it’s time for one of the biggest swims of the week to the rugged island of Žirje.
Day 6
Today its up early as we head off to the Kornati Islands National Park for a day of scenic coastal swimming along some of it’s most striking islands. The underwater topography in this marine park is superb and there are excellent chances to spot dolphins whilst out here.
Day 7
A relaxed start as we make our way for our final swim of the trip around the island of Lupac, Prvić’s near neighbour. It’s a great way to finish a most exhilirating week.
Caveat
Swim Event Type: Swimming in the sea is a fantastic experience, but you need to be aware of potential problems. Marine life such as jellyfish, sea urchins and coral could be present on some of the swims, but we will work on minimising. If stung by jellyfish you can normally carry on swimming. However if you do have a problem we can treat you on one of the escort boats. You should contact us prior to booking if you suffer from Anaphylaxis. You should seek medical attention if you develop any infection following contact with the above. For obvious safety reasons we rely on decent weather conditions when carrying out any swims. As a consequence, open water swimming does require an inherent degree of on-trip flexibility, so required changes in the planned itinerary will not be uncommon and will undoubtedly add to the uniqueness of each tour.
Swimming Caveat 2010
Swimming in the sea is a fantastic experience, but you need to be aware of certain marine life such as jellyfish, sea urchins and coral. These could be present during a swim, so in all cases we will work on minimising their occurrence. In the event you are stung by jellyfish, in most cases you can normally carry on swimming. However, if you do have a problem, we can assess/treat the affected area immediately on the escort boat. If this area continues to cause discomfort and/or becomes infected during or after the tour, you should seek medical attention immediately explaining the nature of the cause. Please ensure you contact us prior to booking if you suffer from Anaphylaxis.
