“ I
wanted to take part in its existence, to feel part
of it, to swim with it,
not against it, in one of its
gentler moods.”
Roger Deakin,
Waterlog, On seeing the Gulf of Corryvreckan (1998)
A real walking and swimming
adventure. Enjoy exploring the untamed wilderness of Jura
and uninhabited islands as we swim and trek around the
Inner Hebrides. However don't think that you will be
roughing it. Our accommodation is a mix of camping and
hunting lodges. You will also find out first hand the effect that the Gulf Stream
has on the sea temperature - refreshingly mild. Don't be
surprised if a friendly seal swims alongside, this tour is
a real wildlife extravaganza.
We start our journey on the island of Islay and island hop amongst some
of the most beautiful islands of the Inner Hebrides until we reach the mainland
at the picturesque hamlet of Craobh Haven.
Our first 2 nights are spent in Jura's
main town of Craighouse, so there's time to check out the local distillery
as we camp in front of the Jura Hotel which has shower
facilities.
