"Little Britain" star qualifies for his Channel Swim

With the support of SwimTrek, Little Britain star, David Walliams swam a distance of 18kms in 8 hours in SwimTrek's Croatia base to officially qualify for his attempt to cross the English Channel in the next week.

As his Channel swim is due to take place any day now, David sought a venue where he could complete his 8hr training swim in early June. Following discussions last year between his coaching staff and SwimTrek, he decided to come to Croatia for his pre-swim training as it provides excellent conditions for swimming. SwimTrek provided the infrastructure, boat and training support for David and his team.

Conditions on the swim were excellent. David did a return swim from the island of Prvić all the way out to the westernmost island of Zirje before completing the return leg.

After he finished the swim, a very tired David said, "I didn't figure on the level of fatigue - even with just 15 minutes to go I was counting the seconds until it was over. It was hard to find the energy to get out at the end."

  •   "Queen of the Channel" and part time SwimTrek guide Alison Streeter was inducted into the International Swimming Hall of Fame (ISHOF) at Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Alison's record tally of 43 crossings includes one extroadinary triple crossing and three double crossings. As well as this she has 18 competitive international swims under her belt. She is only the third British, and the first British woman to be inducted into the ISHOF. Well done Ali on this prestigious reward. She was awarded the MBE by the Queen. Most of her swims are tied to fundraising efforts for various charities and to-date she has raised over £120,000.
