Kate Matwychuk

Hailing from Hamilton, Ontario, Kate grew up wanting someday to swim across Lake Ontario. Having recently retreated to a much warmer climate in Honolulu, HI, Kate has revised her plans and now looks forward to conquering the challenge of an island channel crossing. She has completed various open water swims in a variety of conditions including the cold Boston Light Swim, the very warm Swim Around Key West, the Swim Around the Sound in Bermuda, and the Waikiki Rough Water swim. When she’s not swimming, Kate teaches high school English at Punahou School in Honolulu. She’s worked as a guide for Swim Trek since 2006 and looks forward to sharing her love of exploring the open ocean with swimmers this summer.
