Just below Munich, starts the rolling
hills that begin to form the southern region of the Alps. Closeted
within these hills and mountains are the fabulous Bavarian lakes, which
make this whole area so distinctive from the rest of Germany.
We
swim across four of Bavaria's main lakes. In the west, we cross
the open expanses of Ammersee and Starnberger Lakes and then make our
way to Chiemsee, where we can even swim between islands here containing
palaces, monasteries and nature reserves, making it one of the most
varied days on any our trips.
After this it's then down to the heart of the
German Alps and a swim along the awe inspiring length of the
crystal-clear alpine lake of Königsee where alpine summits lead
the way as we swim.
Combined with interesting walking between the
lakes. this tour is a great way to explore the Bavarian Alps by
swimming in some of the cleanest water in mainland Europe.
