Operations Manager

The job of the operations department is to ensure that all our swimming trips run safely, efficiently, cost, effectively and are of course challenging and fun!

The role of the Operations Manager is to lead the Operations team and be responsible for the department including the following responsibilities:

· Setting up, and maintaining of, trips including:

Ø  Contracting partners (hotels, boat pilots, guides accommodation etc)

Ø  Ensuring all boats have relevant permissions and documents

Ø  Ensuring all equipment is on location and fit for purpose

·         All aspects of Health & safety including legal compliance, policy and training  

·         Guide management, including recruitment, ongoing training and work allocation

·         All aspects of on-location quality control, including guide and customer feedback as well as maintaining and improving guest enjoyment

·         Managing trip budgets, and a consistent drive on reducing inefficiencies in the business

·         Ongoing analysis of sales – reducing/increasing capacity appropriately

·         Product training and trip feasibility

·         Guiding if and when required

·         Ability to manage a team in Head Office as well as a team of guides overseas


·         Strong leadership qualities and negotiating skills

·         Friendly and enthusiastic personality

·         Experience within the travel industry would be an advantage

·         Able to multi-task, and work under pressure

·         Prepared to work within a busy department

·         Open water swimming experience desirable

·         Reside or planning to reside within close proximity of Brighton/Hove

·         Prepared to travel out to locations and be flexible with working days and hours

Swim Guides

You will be an experienced open water swimmer and will have the ability to assist in all aspects of the trip logistics whilst on location. You will be responsible for the guests safety during the swims hence we require you to have/obtain a beach lifeguard, first aid at work, food hygiene and powerboat qualification. A swim teaching/coaching qualification would be an advantage. A flexible, responsible and dynamic attitude combined with an outgoing personality are qualities ideally suited to this position.

 Qualifications required are: 

• RLSS/SLSGB Beach Lifeguard Qualification
• HSE First Aid @ Work
• RYA Powerboat Level 2
• Food Hygiene Certificate
