Robson Green’s Wild Swimming Adventures
04/02/2010 09:58:00

I am sure a lot of you saw the first part of the great story of Robson’s goal to swim to Holy Island in memory of his father, who was a passionate open water swimmer.

Reminiscing about his childhood holidays along the British coastline he splashes into lidos, lakes, rock pools and oceans but his adventures start the stunning open air lido in Plymouth. He slowly builds his confidence not only for the open water but conditions his body for the cold water and challenging swim.

When Lewis Gordon Pugh the man who has swum 1km in -1.7°C joined Robson he new it was going to be a cold water endeavour. The coldest lake in Britain, Llynn LLydaw, in the Snowdonia National Park was a great place to prepare the body and the mind for the battle with the affects of cold water. Lewis prepared him mentally for his swim and Robson was able to conquer what you could see in his eyes as an impossible task and swim the 1km length of the lake, without a wetsuit in 8°C. A tough task!

In the 2nd instalment Robson travels North to the Scottish Inner Hebrides where he meets up with our own Simon Murie to complete the famous swim across the Gulf of  Corryvreckan and it’s mighty whirlpool.

To see his progression and attempt at the Holy Island swim tune into ITV1 Tuesday 15th December at 9pm, but to see a preview go to the ITV1 website.
