Dear Simon,
Welcome to the August issue of the SwimTrek newsletter, once more filled with news about open water swimming and the latest goings on at SwimTrek.
The summer maybe coming to an end here in the UK, but there are plenty of places to catch some sunshine in some of our 20 destinations around the world, for inspiration why not take a look at our trips to Mallorca, Croatia or even Baja Mexico.
The beginning of September will see the ambitious attempt of Cancer Research UK to send a relay swim team across the Irish sea from Holyhead to Dublin called ' The Swim'. Celebrities such as Richard Branson, Pamela Stephenson and Ronan Keating hoping to raise £1 million and project managing this incredible swim across some of the toughest waters in the world is our very own Simon Murie. To hear all the latest news and goings on from the swim, make sure you sign up to Twitter to get the teams regular tweets from the boat!
Also, make sure you enter our competitions this month as not only can you win a signed copy of Steven Munatones openwater swimming book, you can also win one of two swimskins from Aquasphere worth £100 each! Finally, enjoy the swimming wherever you are this month and we look forward to seeing on a SwimTrek trip soon.

MONSTER SWIM 2011
The team would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who took part in MonsterSwim and helping us make this inaugural event. With an early start scheduled to get the best of the morning weather the 155 swimmers were greeted by a strong south westerly wind.
Despite these less favourable conditions, there was a great mix of people from recent channel crossers to first time open water swimmers and even someone who traveled all the way from Brisbane, Australia just to take part! The event was such a success that we are already planning the swim for 2012 and we will be posting the date of the event very soon!
For the results and more information about the swim visit www.monsterswim.co.uk

WORLD'S GREATEST SWIMS SERIES
Continuing our series of 'The top places to swim outdoors in the world'! chosen by SwimTrek's own Simon Murie, these inspirational destinations were first published by MSN.

A climb up Mount Toubkal in the Atlas mountains, the highest peak in North Africa, is made extra special with 'refreshing' (10-12C) dips in the numerous naturally occurring swimming pools on the way. Beaches made of dried goat poo have been created in the rock, which might not sound inviting but are surprisingly pleasant. You may only get three or four strokes in before you have to turn round but the views of the surrounding mountains are terrific.
