| "Benvenuto" to SwimTrek Sardinia |
|
With a new year, comes new and exciting locations and 2008 sees
SwimTrek's first foray into Sardinia, Italy. We visit the beautiful and
remote Maddalena Archipelago off the island of Sardinia. The "Parco
Nazionale dell' Arcipelago di La Maddalena" has a majestic mix of
beautiful beaches, dramatic cliffs and intense ocean colours.
This new trip combines a fantastic mix of challenging crossings with
some stunning coastal swims that will make even the most seasoned
SwimTrekker go weak at the knees. Our first adventure is set to take
place in June. A list of dates and prices are now up on the
SwimTrek website.

| Amazon Swim Book |
As
expected, Martin Strel, the man who swam the length of the Amazon has
written a book about his achievement. The book entitled "The Man who Swam the Amazon" is
Martin's tale of how he overcame deadly animals, pirates and of course,
the river itself. All in the name of raising awareness ofdeforestation
of the Amazon and river pollution.
Now a sought after speaker, he is raising the profile of environmental issues around the world.
View his site for a review of his new book plus great footage and information about this amazing feat.

| New Year Training Tips |
With
the first SwimTrek adventure of the year set to kick off in just over
two months time, there is no time like the present to shake of that
excess Christmas pudding by getting back in the water and putting in
some good quality training.
The SwimTrek training plan covers all aspects of open water swimming,
which is a great start. It looks at general issues of open water
swimming including safety and cold water.
Importantly there is a trip by trip guide to swim distances and
recommended distances to undertake at least once a week in the lead up
to your trip. As with all exercise, technique is vital and we provide
tips for swimming both front crawl and breaststroke.
Check out the plan here...

want to make a change and inject fresh air into their lives.
